MWF replaces GWF, GWF01, GWF06, MXRC, HXRT, FXRT, HWF, and FXRC. The MWF GE Smartwater water filter was designed to work with the high pressure water system included in the 2001 and newer GE SmartWater refrigerators. GE recommeds the use of only the MWF in its high pressure water system refrigerators. However, MWF is backward compatible with all other GE SmartWater refrigerators prior to 2001 and GE Water by Culligan refrigerators. (A ONE-TIME ADAPTER INSTALLATION MAY BE NEEDED ON THE GE WATER BY CULLIGAN REFRIGERATORS.) With the use of an adapter, MWF can be used on refrigerators originally containing FXRC water filters. The adapter, previously included in the GWF01, can be ordered using the part number ADAPTER. GWF has the same easy do-it-yourself installation as the GWF06. Replaces Sears #9905, 46-9905.
